MY STORY
Nzee Birungi Dennis is my name. I was born and raised in Nabbingo along Masaka Road in Kampala District Uganda, by Mr. and Mrs. Sanya Geoger and Nakyanza Rose. I’m the last born of a family of four. My father died when I was 9 months old of HIV/AIDS but miraculously my mother and I managed not to contract it.
My childhood was difficult and at at thirteen years I was working to make ends meet. I used to sell battery cells, sweets, polytene bags and sometimes drinking water from an old park. Thanks to the grace of God I was able to educate myself up to certificate level.
After living through that, one of my friends who was a Christian introduced me to Christ. I knew him before and his situation was no different from mine or even worse. Over the years his situation had changed because he accepted Christ as His savior and redeemer.
He told me, “accept Jesus as your Savior and leave the rest to Him for He knows better.” For some reason I was hesitant, but at last I decided to go to their Church and get to know about this God Jesus Christ. Then after fellowship the Pastor said “those who have never accepted Jesus in their lives should come fourth”, and as I was hesitant to go in front, something (Holy Spirit) told me to go. I listen, and immediately got up and felt as if I was walking in a new world, and no doubt I became anew creature.
The Idea of helping children came to me when I was doing an internship in Wakiso District. The situation there is dire. Many children were out of school, with no food and proper clothing with no hope. The Lord inspired me to do something. So I started a shelter and orphanage for these children and called it the “Rose House Foundation” in honor of my mother.
One of my favorite scriptures from our Lord is Luke 10:27 ”You shall Love the Lord Your God with All Your Heart, with All Your Soul, and with all your strength. And you shall Love your Neighbor as Yourself..."
